Once cheered as The Realm's Delight Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen was the eldest and only surviving child of King Viserys Targaryen and his wife, Queen Aemma Arryn. Born in 97 AC she was noted as a precocious and brazen child, having mounted her dragon Syrax at age seven. As a girl she was enamored with her uncle, Prince Daemon, the heir apparent to her father's seat, it was he who brought her gifts from across the Narrow Sea, and shared stories of the adventures she could only dream of.And dream of them she did, she grew from a small girl into a rebellious young woman, more eager to spend her days on dragonback than to attend feasts and sit quietly to learn from her septa. Such indulgences were allowed for the highborn girl as, until the death of her mother and newborn brother, she was never considered as heir. In a move which shocked the Seven Kingdoms and went against all Westerosi tradition, she was officially made her father's heir. A title which would not be taken away, even with the birth of her stepmother's three sons following.After years of successfully avoiding a marriage of her own she was married off to her cousin, Ser Laenor Velaryon, heir to Driftmark. Together, they would have three sons, Jacaerys, Lucerys and Joffrey. All three healthy and strong boys who bore a miraculous similarity to the princess' sworn shield Ser Harwin Strong, the Commander of the City Watch and heir to Harrenhal. For nearly a decade she lived in relative peace, though her stepmother, Queen Alicent Hightower was ever the thorn in her side. For, like most, the queen noticed the 'common' features of her sons but unlike all others, she voiced her concerns more openly.The peace came to an end with the deaths of both Ser Harwin and Ser Laenor, after which she sought out a marriage to the uncle with whom she had once been in love with as a girl. His hand brought protection for her, and for the sons who, under his protection, no one would dare speak against. A man who would defend her claim upon the Iron Throne from those who would seek to undermine it on the basis of her sex. This marriage again brought several years of ease, and two more sons, with the family having taken up residence on the Princess' ancestral seat of Dragonstone some years before.It was only with the death of her father that Rhaenyra would slowly begin to lose everything. After an attempt is made on her life in retaliation for dirty deals gone wrong, Viserys appoints board member Lyonel Strong's son as Rhaenyra's personal bodyguard. After a few nights spent in a rundown bar in the midst of bikers and afternoons spent hiding away at his place with him, she finds it is more than that.AU 006 ( PUNK PRINCESS ): Intent on making a name for herself, Rhaenyra distances herself from her family, a certified Hollywood dynasty, in order to pursue a music career. Originally using the name 'Rhaenyra Arryn' as her stage name, she did well for her first album, then midway through her first headlining tour, the identity of her father came out. From there she proudly shouldered her family name and sought to continue with their legacy. Her music is unabashedly angry, focusing on female-driven perspective on everything from intricate storytelling to the breakdown of relationships & the occasional love song. She straddles the line between pop and alternative at times and refuses to be boxed into either genre.AU 007 ( SUPERNATURAL/WITCH ): Her blood is ancient, steeped in the magic of Old Valyria, a country half a world away, now forgotten and swallowed up by the powers of Eastern Europe. For a thousand years, the Targaryens have indulged in their blood magic, once openly, one of the forty families who boasted such abilities, as times changed traditions were lost, the families scattered. The Targaryens found themselves in a new country, but unlike the others, they refused to retire their traditions, passing their secrets from father to son...Until Viserys. When his wife died in childbirth that left Rhaenyra alone to continue their bloodline.
For nine years she was slowly drawn into this secret world by her father, and her uncle, Daemon. Secret rituals, spells, rites dedicated to their god, Balerion, who she too would dedicate herself to. But when the time came she heard another voice tugging at her and on her sixteenth birthday, she spilled her own blood for Syrax, the goddess who would in turn sustain her powers and sent to her a familiar. Brought to the Red Keep as to be a handmaiden to her cousin, Queen Rhaenys Targaryen, First of Her Name, first queen of the Seven Kingdoms in her own right, Rhaenyra has formed a close bond with her. While it is an honor, one Viserys had hoped would rein his daughter in the queen indulges her wild streak, often having the princess accompany her on dragonback through the Crownlands.
